Ohio is located in the Midwestern region of the USA with Columbus as its capital. The Ohio legislature has 33 Senate members and 99 House members. Ohio’s current political leaders are:

Mike DeWine

Current Position: Governor
Affiliation: Republican

Mike DeWine loves Ohio and cares passionately about our state’s future. He knows that every parent wants their kids to have an opportunity for a solid education, a healthy life that is free of drugs, and a good paying job later in life. Republican leadership has righted the ship in Ohio, but Mike knows that we have a chance to propel our state even farther ahead.

Mike knows that for our state to succeed in the future, we have to take efforts to create and retain jobs in Ohio to the next level. By curbing excessive taxation and burdensome regulations, his focus will be on creating a more inviting business environment and bringing and keeping jobs in Ohio.

Sherrod Brown

No one fights harder for Ohio’s working families or takes his job more seriously than Sherrod. It’s a reputation he earned through his career in public service. When Sherrod won a seat in the General Assembly, he became the youngest person elected to Ohio’s House of Representatives. He went on to serve as Ohio’s Secretary of State and represented Ohio’s 13th District in the U.S. House.

In the Senate, Sherrod gives voice to Ohioans who have been left behind by the special interests that dominate Washington, and is fighting for an economy that restores the value of hard work in America.

Robert Portman

Current Position: US Senator
Affiliation: Republican

Rob has built a reputation in the Senate as a conservative who is focused on building consensus to promote pro-growth policies that will lead to private sector job creation. Rob is a leading advocate for tax reform, regulatory reform, deficit reduction, and worker retraining reform to help create an environment for Ohio employers to grow and create good-paying jobs.

Despite the gridlock in Congress, Rob has had nearly 50 of his own bills signed into law, including legislation to combat drug abuse, fight human trafficking, improve the federal permitting process, reduce waste and fraud in government spending, and reform federal worker retraining programs so they work better for Ohio workers.

    Congressman Steve Chabot has proudly served Ohio’s First Congressional District for 20 years. A lifelong Cincinnatian, Steve previously served as a Cincinnati City Councilman and Hamilton County Commissioner for five years each prior to being elected to Congress in 1994.

    While in Congress, Steve has also helped lead efforts to reduce the regulatory burden on America’s small businesses, and to combat the opioid epidemic. He is an outspoken defender of the rights of the unborn, most importantly having authored the ban on the practice of partial-birth abortions.

    Congressman Gibbs sits on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. Gibbs was chosen to chair the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment, a subcommittee of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee that conducts oversight of the federal regulation of clean water, from 2011 until 2017. He is currently Ranking Member of the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee.

In 1998, seeing signs of freedom being threatened, Brad accepted an officer’s commission with the U.S. Army Reserve, serving in the Medical Service Corps.

    A lifelong Ohioan, Dave has dedicated his life to family and community. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1957, Dave’s father, a WWII veteran, was a salesman and mother a proud housewife. Dave had three siblings and grew up playing all sports. Dave graduated from West Geauga High School and went on to receive his BA in Accounting, and Juris Doctorate, from The University of Dayton. Upon graduation, he moved back to Cuyahoga County and worked as a public defender.

    In November 2012, Dave was elected to represent the 14th District of Ohio for the 113th Congress. This Congress, the 116th, is his fourth term in office. Dave serves on the influential House Committee on Appropriations, which is responsible for scrutinizing federal spending and determining how your tax dollars are spent.

    Prior to her service in the U.S. House of Representatives, Congresswoman Beatty was Senior Vice President of Outreach and Engagement at The Ohio State University and a member in the Ohio House of Representatives for five terms. During her tenure in the Ohio House, she rose to become the first female Democratic House Leader in Ohio’s history and was instrumental in spearheading and enacting pieces of legislation to require financial literacy in Ohio’s public school curriculum, to expand STEM education, and to secure funds to help under- and uninsured women access breast and cervical cancer treatment.

    Steve Stivers is currently serving his fifth term as a Member of Congress and represents Ohio’s 15th Congressional District, which is made up of 12 counties including, all of Clinton, Fairfield, Hocking, Madison, Morgan, Perry, Pickaway, and Vinton counties, and parts of Athens, Fayette, Franklin, and Ross counties.

    Stivers has served on the Financial Services Committee throughout his time in Congress, which oversees the banking, insurance, real estate, public and assisted housing, and securities industries. The Committee also reviews housing and consumer protection legislation and has jurisdiction over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Federal Reserve Bank.
